Georgia job loss fifth worst in nation
The Atlanta Journal-Constitution
When it comes to job loss since the recession began in late 2007, Georgia ranks fifth worst in the nation, according to a report released Wednesday by the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics.
The state shed 7.6 percent of its jobs, roughly one in every 13.2 positions.
Proportionally, the worst impact was in Arizona, which has lost 10 percent of its jobs or one out of every 10 positions. Second, at 9.8 percent, is Michigan. Nevada is third with an 8.5 percent loss. The only southern state harder hit than Georgia was Florida, where 7.8 percent of that state's jobs have evaporated.
