Flight attendants make election offer to Delta

The Atlanta Journal-Constitution

Flight attendants working on a unionization campaign at Delta Air Lines sent a memo to Delta chief executive Richard Anderson proposing that if Delta management agrees to a “yes/no” ballot, with the majority of ballots cast determining the outcome, the union would file for an election immediately. Delta had criticized the union for delaying the election. Such a ballot – similar to a recent proposed rule change by the National Mediation Board -- is likely to make it much easier for the union to win enough votes to organize the flight attendants. Flight attendants from Northwest are unionized, while those from Delta are non-union. The flight attendants were set to soon vote on representation until the union withdrew its filing for an election, pending the proposed rule change by the Mediation Board. Delta said it planned to send a response to the flight attendants.
