FAA releases recording from taxiway landing

The Federal Aviation Administration released an audio recording of air traffic control communications for Delta’s Flight 60, which landed on a taxiway at Hartsfield-Jackson International Airport Oct. 19. While the recording included communications about the medical emergency on board and a switch in runways, it did not include discussion of the landing on the taxiway instead of the runway. The National Transportation Safety Board previously disclosed that a check airman in the flight deck of the Boeing 767 en route from Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, became ill and had to be relocated to the cabin, and that the flight was then cleared to land on Runway 27R. The plane instead landed on a parallel taxiway immediately north. The FAA and the NTSB are investigating the incident.
