Delta reports decline in monthly passenger traffic

Atlanta-based Delta Air Lines said its passenger traffic fell 6.5 percent in October, on an 8.3 percent cut in capacity. Its planes averaged 83.9 percent full in the month.

The biggest passenger drops were on international routes, where Delta cut capacity 13.6 percent and passenger traffic fell 9.7 percent.

AirTran Airways, which is based in Orlando and has its largest hub in Atlanta, said its October traffic increased 5.2 percent on a 7 percent increase in capacity.
