Delta and AirTran report fuller flights in May

Atlanta-based Delta Air Lines said its flights averaged 83.9 percent full in May, up from 82.3 percent full a year earlier.
Delta reported fuller flights as it increased flight capacity by 0.6 percent in the month, while its passenger traffic grew 2.7 percent.
While Delta's domestic passenger traffic was up 0.3 percent, its international passenger traffic grew 6.7 percent, one indication of a recovery in international travel.
AirTran Airways, which is based in Orlando and has its largest hub in Atlanta, said its planes were 80.8 percent full in May, up from 78 percent full a year earlier. It increased flight capacity by 4.6 percent while passenger traffic grew 8.4 percent.
