Delta Air Lines plans to add Chicago O'Hare International Airport to its Shuttle operation from New York, as it seeks to both build strength in the Big Apple and grab a bigger piece of the business travel market in the Windy City.

Delta Shuttle already flies between New York and Boston and Washington, and it will be the only airline offering shuttle-style service from New York to all three business markets when it starts its hourly Shuttle flights to Chicago on June 10. The flights will be on 76-seat Embraer 175 jets.

Chicago O'Hare is a stronghold for United and American Airlines. Delta said its 11 daily Shuttle flights between New York's LaGuardia Airport and Chicago O'Hare will replace its 9 Delta flights between LaGuardia and Chicago Midway International Airport.

Delta said it will install Shuttle kiosks at O'Hare where travelers can buy same-day tickets, and will offer other amenities like morning coffee and newspapers at the Shuttle gates in Chicago. The Delta Shuttle has traditionally catered to last-minute business fliers who want a choice of departure times.

Separately, Delta plans to add routes from Los Angeles to Columbus, Ohio; Hartford, Conn.; Raleigh-Durham, N.C.; and San Francisco starting June 10.
