Buckhead's status as the epicenter of luxury in Atlanta will continue for years to come, but it will depend on keeping a strong product mix and building up streets other than Peachtree.
"We have a national presence," Luigi Romaniello, managing director of the Rosewood Hotel at the Mansion on Peachtree, told attendees of a meeting of retail, hotel and restaurant leaders Tuesday at Lenox Square. "A lot of it is because of the shopping, restaurants and retail here."
That mix includes high-end offerings like the Rosewood, along with grocery stores, gyms and furniture retailers, said Gary L. Farmer of Coro Realty Advisers, which is developing the mixed-use Buckhead Pavillion project.
Marc Weinberg of the Shopping Center Group said Atlanta's traffic needs to be brought under control, and there needs to be a bigger variety in dining.
Tisha Maley, vice president of leasing for Lenox Square and Phipps Plaza, said it's also important that the Buckhead business community remains committed to stores that can't be found anywhere else in the city.
