Regional planners expect to complete by Aug. 10 their consideration of a proposed development of apartments, shops and offices along Hammond Drive in Sandy Springs.
The proposal, by noted developer and Sandy Springs resident John Williams, is for 395 apartments and about 100,000 square feet of commercial space along Hammond Drive. The road links Sandy Springs with the business district around Perimeter Mall.

Planners with the Atlanta Regional Commission are considering the impact the proposed development would have on traffic, solid waste, water and sewer.
The ARC will determine if the project is "in the best interest" of the state and region. That's the government's language for saying if the benefits of a development outweigh the demand it will create on roads, water and sewer systems.
The Sandy Springs City Council will consider, but isn't required to follow, the ARC's recommendations.
The proposed Hammond Center would be built by Oxford Properties, which Williams oversees. The project would generate $608,000 a year in property and sales taxes and would cost $75.6 million to build, according to records Oxford Properties filed with ARC.
