Home prices down 16 percent in DeKalb

DeKalb County home sales are flat and the average home sale price is down by about 16 percent from this time last year, according to a report released by the DeKalb Association of Realtors.
Among its findings: Last month, 483 homes were sold in the county, up only slightly from the 480 homes sold in October 2007. Pending sales of single-family homes were down slightly over the same period, from 583 homes to 578.
The average sale price for single family homes dropped during that time by 16 percent, from $210,859 to $178,061. And the average time on the market for single family homes increased from 124 days in October 2007 to 131 days in October 2008.
