An Atlanta man is accused of selling 23 tickets to Six Flags that had already been used.

Marlow C. Brown was arrested Saturday after a group that traveled to the Austell park wasn’t admitted with tickets purchased in advance, according to an arrest warrant.

He faces felony theft charges for selling the tickets, which are worth $1239.69, according to the warrant.

Brown told park officials he paid someone identified only as “Tony” $510 in cash for the 23 tickets, then sold them for less than $20 each. But the tickets were all worthless, according to the warrant, since they had already been used.

“…All tickets for Six Flags are clearly marked ‘Not for Resale,’” the warrant states.

Admission tickets to the park cost $29.99 a person when purchased online, according to the Six Flags web site. Tickets at the gate cost $39.99.

Leslie Jenkins of Augusta said she bought the 23 tickets online and didn’t realize they weren’t valid until getting to the park’s entrance. She said Tuesday evening she was questioned by the park’s loss and prevention staff after her group tried to use the tickets.

“It was blazing hot out there,” Jenkins said.

Two hours later, Jenkins said the group was allowed to enter the park, without having to purchase additional tickets.

Brown admitted to park officials that what he did was wrong, according to the warrant. He said he e-mailed “Tony” a list of names of those that would be using the tickets. But the last names did not match the names of the guests, police said.

Brown apparently had nine other Six Flags ticket in his pocket when he was arrested, according to the warrant. Those, he said, were also purchased from “Tony.”

This type of incident is rare , according to Kendall Kelton with Six Flags.

“We recommend people buy tickets from a reliable source,” she said Wednesday.
