Pinching pennies has you jonesing for a night out? Jason Greene of Brookwood has savvy tips on how to dine out on a budget.

"I save by doing certain early-bird specials and registering on certain restaurants' e-mail lists — I can always get a two-for-one on my birthday," explains Greene, who eats out in some capacity almost every day.

"I frequent Prime at Lenox for early-bird steak specials — they offer four steaks at half price during the early evening."

Greene scours the city for other deals, like Ray's in the City's daily half-price appetizer specials.

But getting on your favorite restaurant's e-mail list is the key to knowing its specials, he says, and possibly getting coupons.

"I'm on the e-mail lists for my faves, like Rathbun's and Shaun's," he says.

If all else fails, Greene relies on the Savvy Shopper Coupon Book that comes in the mail.
