MailExpress gets $30 million in funding

Atlanta-based MailExpress, a four-year-old start-up shipper for companies with large volumes of light packages and flat mail, received $30 million in venture capital from Silicon Valley-based Lightspeed Venture Partners. Other investors include CMEA Capital, Logispring, XAnge Capital and Adams Street Partners.

Lightspeeds’ managing director, Eric O’Brien, will join MailExpress’ board of directors.

MailExpress will use the funding to expand its distribution network and business systems.

The company picks up packages and envelopes for companies, weighs and marks them, then puts them into the U.S. Postal Service mailstream.
