Coke cuts 17 jobs in IT

Coca-Cola Co. has notified 17 employees in global information technology that their positions will be eliminated by the end of the year, the company confirmed this week.

The cuts come a week after Coca-Cola announced the creation of a new Global Business and Technology Services group that combines global business services, global IT and productivity functions into one unit.

The Atlanta-based beverage firm said last year it would cut $400 million to $500 million in annual costs by the end of 2011 through productivity initiatives.
