EarthLink has named telecommunications veteran M. Wayne Wisehart to its board. Wiseheart will serve on the Atlanta-based Internet provider's audit, finance and corporate governance committees. His term lasts through 2009.
Wiseheart was chief financial officer of aQuantive, a digital marketing services company that was bought by Microsoft in August 2007. Before that he was executive vice president and chief financial officer of Western Wireless, which is now owned by Alltel.

He has also served as an executive for other Internet, software and telecommunications companies.
Two board members — Robert Kavner and William Harris Jr. — will retire from the board Friday. Kavner has served on the board since 1996. Harris has been a board member since 2003 and was chairman from 2005 through January this year. EarthLink does not have mandatory term limits for its board members.
EarthLink is scheduled to report its second quarter earnings Tuesday.
