The Georgia Department of Economic Development announced Thursday more than $1 million in grants for tourism development.
Most of the money is being awarded through the Georgia Tourism Foundation and will reimburse 86 organizations for marketing efforts.

"The economic impact of the funded projects will contribute significantly to our tourism industry," Deputy Commissioner for Tourism and Marketing Charlie Gatlin said in a statement.
Grant recipients include the Savannah Music Festival, the Georgia Innkeepers Association and the Augusta Museum of History.
Each organization must submit a report proving the marketing efforts met state criteria before the reimbursement can be issued.
Also, 11 Georgia communities will share $90,000 in funds, presented through the new Tourism Product Development Grant Program, to develop or enhance tourist attractions.
