WHAT IS IT?

The North Face outdoors sporting goods store plans to open a retail store in Buckhead. Slated to open this summer, the shop will be the North Face's first retail store in the Southeast and will join about 20 other retail shops the North Face operates across the country. WHAT IMPACT WILL IT HAVE?

The North Face store will add to the mix of boutique shops being built in Buckhead. The new store will occupy about 5,000 square feet of space, according to Scott Sullivan, who's managing the construction project for Van Winkle and Co. It will join a development with potentially 80 high-end retailers who are expected to move into a project now being built just a block away — Streets of Buckhead. Streets of Buckhead is being built in an area that once served as the nightclub district in the Buckhead Village.

WHEN WILL IT BE DONE?

The North Face shop is expected to open at the end of this summer, Sullivan said. Van Winkle is building the shell and another contractor is expected to start building the interior starting in mid-May, Sullivan said.
