Delta Air Lines said Tuesday it plans to launch daily flights from Atlanta to Tegucigalpa, Honduras, starting Dec. 18.
The flights, which still need foreign government approval, would use the airline's new Boeing 737-700 aircraft, which can be flown to airports like Tegucigalpa with short runways, high altitudes and extreme temperatures.

The Atlanta-based carrier already flies from Atlanta to San Pedro Sula and Roatan in Honduras.
Delta will get the first of 10 new 124-seat 737-700s this Friday. It already flies 71 160-seat 737-800s.
