3Par names Michael Clair to its board

FREMONT, Calif. — Virtual storage provider 3Par on Tuesday named Michael M. Clair to its board as an independent outside director.

Clair, a technology investor and consultant to Silicon Valley companies, is chairman of Phoenix Technologies, a California software company that was recently acquired by Nokia. A co-founder and senior vice president of SynOptics Communications, he was previously chairman of Intellisync, also software company.
He will serve on the board's compensation committee.
In afternoon trading, 3Par shares fell 41 cents, or 4.3 percent, to $9.08.
