Skip Caray passed over for award, Hall of Fame induction

Former Braves broadcaster Skip Caray, who passed away this year, was not one of the 10 finalists for the Ford C. Frick award and induction into the Baseball Hall of Fame.

Three of the finalists were selected by fan voting. They were Joe Nuxhall (19,547 votes), Jacques Doucet (10,282) and Tom Cheek (8,992). The seven broadcasters on the final ballot, joining that were selected by a Hall of Fame research committee were Billy Berroa, Ken Coleman, Dizzy Dean, Lanny Frattare, Tony Kubek, Graham McNamee and Dave Van Horne.

The winner will be announced on Dec. 9.
