Teixeira leaves with back spasmsThe Atlanta Journal-Constitution
Published on: 05/13/08
Pittsburgh — Infielder Mark Teixeira left with back spasms after 3 1/2 innings of Monday's first game and was listed as day to day.
He started all 35 games until Greg Norton started the second game of the doubleheader. Norton promptly made a first-inning error that let in a run.
Teixeira's back tightened while covering first base on a groundout. He joined a list of Braves who have had back spasms in recent weeks, including Chipper Jones, Kelly Johnson and Brayan Pena.
Noticeably absent from the list: Mark Kotsay, who had back surgery in March 2007 and was considered a question mark this season.
