European GM units to add shifts, staff
FRANKFURT — General Motors Co.'s Opel and Vauxhall units plan to add staff and shifts in the coming months to meet demand for new launches and develop new models.
General Motors Europe said in a statement Wednesday that the company would hire up to 250 engineers for its International Technical Development Center in Ruesselsheim, Germany.
The Ruesselsheim production plant will also add five extra shifts through June to meet higher demand.
Opel's plant in Gliwice, Poland, plans to add extra shifts through June to meet higher demand. Vauxhall's Ellesmere Port, England plant will return to three shifts per day in 2011.
