Challengers are no shows at candidates night

The Dayton Education Council’s big candidates night has just begun live on DPS -TV — the school district’s community access cable channel. The four incumbents are here. But none of the challengers showed up.

DEC chairman Les Weller said Nancy Nerny told them some time ago she could not attend. Shelia Taylor and Shirley Crisp, Weller said, initially accepted invitations to attend but today called to say they would not attend.

He didn’t say whether this was coincidental or if they were, for some reason, boycotting. I’ll try to get more information and let you know.

UPDATE: Sorry. This is being broadcast on the district’s cable station — DPS TV — not the city’s cable access channel. I’ve updated the post to reflect this.

Why don’t the candidates just go directly to youtube with their ideas? The press would cover it (it would be a first in Dayton), and the candidates would be able to get the message they want directly to the populace.

Does this really suprise anyone? I told you all you have to do is go to a candidate’s night and see for yourselves the lack of caliber these challengers have and the reality of what is going on here would be evident. It is a sad day in this city when an elected board member sets out to take over the board with three unprepared candidates and when they begin to fail abysmally at public functions he then coaches them to avoid the public so voters can’t see just how unprepared they actually are. And before you Lacey-maniacs jump on me about saying he’s coaching them, let the record show I got a flyer with all three of these women on it and it was paid for by Lacey’s campaign committee! Sad, sad, sad, and you guys think this lunatic cares about children, yeah, right! I was unsure at the onset, but this is the last straw. I and every voter in my home (four total) will vote the four year term for Mario, Massoud, and Mimms, and vote the two year term for Thompson! Wake up Dayton, your being played here and the sad part is it’s not even a good snow job!
