A $1.4 billion experiment
The Cleveland Plain Dealer on Sunday began a three-day series looking at the pros and cons of charter schools in Ohio. The PD’s reporters estimate Ohio has spent $1.4 billion on charter schools only to see most fail. But the series does point to examples of successful charter schools. Check it out and let me know what you think.

Looks like Ohio could learn a lot from Massachusetts. And I disagree that most charter schools have failed; they did not live up to their expectations.By Mary

Interesting that they track students/assign them by abilities. Also interesting, the teacher assigns a student to remind another student to do his homework. Why doesn’t the teacher herself make contact? Maybe I missed some other articles, or they are yet to come, about where the money goes. We should ask the same questions about expenditures and performance in public schools, as well. I believe public schools get more money per student than charter schools.
