Reporter Noelle Newton has departed KVUE and is bound for crosstown rival KTBC.

Newton, who came to Austin in 2008, is set to start at Fox 7 on Saturday. She’ll report primarily for the station’s 5 and 9 p.m. newscasts.

A graduate of Texas State University, she interned at Fox 7 before landing jobs in Denison, Tulsa, Okla., and, eventually, Central Texas.

“On the last day of my Fox 7 internship, I recall my mom taking a picture of me leaving the station,” Newton said. “I saved that picture hoping one day I would eventually return. This job is a dream come true, and I’m really looking forward to coming back home.”

“We are thrilled to bring Noelle back to our team, where she was once an intern,” said Pam Vaught, the station’s vice president and news director. “As a native Texan, she brings a wealth of knowledge about the area and will be a great asset to our station.”

Newton is the second reporter to depart KVUE this fall.

Colleague Steve Alberts recently took a job at the Austin Convention and Visitors Bureau.
