Chris Willis is KXAN’s new investigative reporter
KXAN didn’t have to look far to find a new reporter to lead its investigative team.
Chris Willis
Chris Willis, anchor of the station’s morning and noon newscasts, has been tapped to replace Nanci Wilson, who departed last month.
“I could not be more pleased that Chris has agreed to lead our team’s investigative efforts,” said news director Michael Fabac. “His experiences in the field and from behind the anchor desk have allowed Chris the opportunity to develop unmatched relationships with our audience and the newsmakers of Austin.”
“Chris Willis’ tenacity, skills and journalistic passion combined with 12 years of news experience in Austin at KXAN will tremendously strengthen our investigative efforts and ultimately our mission to improve the local community,” said Eric Lassberg, president and general manager for sister stations KXAN, KNVA and KBVO.
The search is on for someone to fill Willis’ spot on the anchor desk, Lassberg said.

Congratulations on being placed in this position. I need your help finding out how cases can sit unread in the District Attorney's office for almost 4 years without being read ---even when filed by a Texas Ranger. This is a fraud case and innocent victims are continuiing to be victimized. If you are willing to let me fill you in on this much needed story to be told; please call me at 512 750-6973. I am a psychotherapist and chemical dependency counselor in private practice and this story has been ignored by DA Gary Cobb since he received it in May, 2008.

We have enjoyed listening to Chris on the early morning news. He always adds just the right comment or sidebar to keep things interesting. He will be missed in that position. I hope his replacement will have the "Willis touch" for keeping us tuned in.
