Test of Emergency Alert System reveals some flaws

The federal government is considering tweaks to its Emergency Alert System after broadcasters uncovered a variety of problems during a test conducted Wednesday.

In a national emergency, the system would be used by the president to address Americans.

Radio and TV stations across the nation, as well as cable and satellite providers, reported that the audio from the Federal Communications Commission and the Federal Emergency Management Agency was muffled.
