Fox 7 is in the market for a new general manager.

Mark Rodman, who has headed the station for three years, is bound for Phoenix, Ariz., where he’ll oversee Fox-owned KSAZ and KUTP.

The promotion is effective immediately, Fox says.

Before getting the top job at Fox 7, Rodman served as the station’s general sales manager. He succeeded longtime general manager Danny Baker, who retired in 2008.

“I’m thrilled to be joining the team of professionals at KSAZ and KUTP and look forward to building upon our stations’ legacy of service to the Phoenix community,” Rodman said.

Fox owns 27 stations in 18 cities nationwide, including KRIV and KTXH in Houston, as well as KDFI and KDFW in Dallas.

It's a bigger market, but is it really a promotion to move from Austin to Phoenix?
