Wednesday’s Longhorn Network update

Time for today’s Longhorn Network roundup. Not a lot that’s new — talks continue … blah, blah, blah — but here ya go …

lhn.JPG
  • Longhorn Network really is nowhere to be found in Austin. A University of Texas spokesman confirmed today that LHN isn’t available anywhere on campus.

  • As negotiations with cable providers continue, ESPN has released a fresh statement: “We’re disappointed that operators like Grande and Time Warner Cable are choosing to deprive Texas fans of valuable content, including this weekend’s Rice vs. UT game.”

  • The Texas Exes have launched an email campaign urging UT alums to contact their cable providers and demand access to LHN. The list includes contact info for AT&T U-verse, Dish Network, DirecTV, Grande, Time Warner Cable and more.

More tomorrow, I’m sure.

Bad move - are they trying to decrease their loyal fan base? Could not find any way to even pay to watch the game live yesterday. Hawaii cable companies are not likely to ever cary LHN so UT better be GREAT so we can watch them on major networks or the fan base will suffer.

If it is streamed online, please post the link so others may be able to watch the game.

This isn't fair. UT IS disrespecting the fans.

It is true you can and will be able to find the game online. However the bigger issue is the disrespect of UT to its fans especially local fans.

The only reason college football is a legitimate sport is because of its fans. The professionals will always play better football, so why would we ever want to watch NCAA? People watch and care because of the rivalries, comradely, locale etc.

The creation of a subscription only network is just bullhockey

Ok heres the deal UT. I will sign up for your network but you must promise to remove all advertisements for me. Thanks!

Listen. There will be plenty and I mean plenty of illegal free streams of this game on the internet. There is absolutely no reason to pay extra to watch anything.

Just another excuse to raise our cable bills. No thank you. UT screwed local fans but that doesn't matter as long as there's big money to be had.
