What do TV reporters make?
Ever wonder what TV newscasters make?
Sure you have.
A new survey from the Radio Television Digital News Association offers up some numbers that may interest you.
Nationwide, reporters make, on average, $40,100. For most Austin reporters, that’s high.
The national low is $16,000 and the high is $201,500.
The average salary for news anchors is $90,500. It’s a little harder to offer an Austin-centric comparison here. Morning and weekend newscasters make less, while some big-name evening anchors likely make way more. (We’re looking at you, Ron and Judy.)
The poor souls at the very bottom of the salary chart make just $18,000, while local news anchors in big cities such as New York and Los Angeles can command as much as $737,500.
Overall, local TV news salaries jumped 7.3 percent during 2010, according to RTDNA.
So … now you know.
