‘Colbert Report’ features Gov. Perry news clip from KXAN

KXAN morning and midday anchor Sally Hernandez got some national exposure Tuesday night on Comedy Central’s “Colbert Report.”

In a segment clocking in at five-plus minutes, host Stephen Colbert poked fun at Texas Gov. Rick Perry, who is widely rumored to be considering a run for the White House in 2012.

Amidst a number of soundbites from national news networks, viewers saw a clip of Hernandez detailing Perry’s well-publicized April 2010 run-in with a coyote while on a jog near his rented home in western Travis County.

Perry shot and killed the coyote with a laser-sighted pistol, claiming it threatened his dog.

“Texas Gov. Rick Perry has a message for wily coyotes out there,” Hernandez says. “Don’t mess with my dog.”
