Get ready for a new face on YNN’s weekday evening newscasts.

Time Warner Cable announced today that reporter Heidi Zhou-Castro is sliding into the anchor chair formerly occupied by Crestina Chavez, who became the 24-hour local news channel’s managing editor earlier this year.

“Heidi represents the epitome of what we do so well here at YNN, taking young, promising talent and giving them the opportunity to grow to their full potential as journalists,” said news director Michael Pearson. “She pursues news with aggressiveness and tenacity, traits she developed as a reporter and will continue to utilize behind the anchor desk.”

Zhou-Castro, who is working on her master’s degree in journalism at the University of Texas, joined YNN in 2007 after a stint at a station in Fargo, N.D.
