Microsoft announced that live television is coming to its Xbox game console this fall today at industry trade show E3, as reported by PC Magazine.

Few details were offered by the tech industry giant, but the service will be controlled by Microsoft’s Kinect technology, which uses human gestures and voice commands to navigate on-screen menus.

“Quite simply we believe TV is more amazing with you as the controller,” Marc Whitten, Xbox Live vice president, said.

According to the report, Live TV will stream local channels live from the Xbox to a television receiver. A U.S. distribution partner was not identified for the service, which launches this fall. The service is also said to include DVR capabilities and integration with Internet video site YouTube.

“This is our vision for the future of TV—effortless, approachable,” Whitten said.
