Big Gulp outrage hits ‘The Colbert Report’
Remember John Kelso’s column about Paul Sunby, the Austin biologist who uncovered the fact that 7-Eleven’s Big Gulp has shrunk from 44 to 40 ounces?
Sunby’s outrage about the change is now shared by Stephen Colbert, who went on an extended rant about the Big Gulp during Thursday’s “The Colbert Report.”
“The Super Big Gulp has to be 44 ounces according to the Bureau of Snacks and Measures,” Colbert fumed. “They’re the same government agency that decides what size bar is officially fun and when a side of fries has been Biggie-d.”
Colbert proceeded to down a Big Gulp and then claim he was still thirsty. Even supplementing with a 4-ounce “Microgulp” didn’t help, so he introduced his new innovation, the 44-gallon “Gulpzilla” (actually a performer in a drink costume).
