Michelle Valles announces she’s leaving KEYE
Michelle Valles, one of the hosts of “We Are Austin Live” on KEYE, announced Monday on her Facebook page that she’s leaving the station.
“I have just announced to my beloved colleagues at KEYE-TV that I have decided to pursue other interests after my contract ends this year,” Valles wrote. “It was a wonderful experience helping launch Austin Live, but I am ready to begin a new journey! Thank you KEYE-TV and Central Texas viewers, this has been a GREAT chapter in my life.”
Valles’ last day will be Dec. 15, according to local media blogger Jim McNabb.
Valles began hosting the afternoon show “We Are Austin Live” with Jason Wheeler in September 2009. She joined KEYE in December 2008 as anchor of the morning newscast. Previously, Valles, a University of Texas graduate, had worked at KXAN from 2003 until September 2008.

Hate to see another beautiful face leaving Austin TV. She always appears to be a sweet, personable lady. Best of luck with her new endeavor.

This saddens me. Michelle is personable. Cute, too. Kim Barnes has long ago stepped down. And Amy Hadley. Only Bettie Cross remains as a TV news femme fatale.

Michelle was a great anchor for the Austin market. She is an excellent news anchor and brought a lot of professionalism to the KEYE team. I wish her well.

Reading these comments, it's hard to believe that Austin is one of the most educated cities in the US. Her DWI is none of your business just as your $500 day habit at a topless bar/ drug dealer/ liquor store is no one's business but yours. Is it so difficult to wish someone well that has served as a public icon in the community? Geez people....lighten up!

Ben, no offense to anyone, but I tell you why...she's smart as the ugly ones will stay in Austin. I never saw Paige or Eileen, but I feel as if they're hot. Oh well, what can we do?

What is the status of Valle's DWI, and did it have anything to do with her leaving, Dale Roe? Oh, that's right, you're a "blogger" not a reporter. So what are you doing working for a newspaper? There's enough gossip going around, the Statesman should spend it's ever-diminishing dollars on actual journalists, and then maybe it would be relevant again, and wouldn't need to start a copy of Groupon to stay afloat. If only....
