Fox Sports channels vanish from Dish Network
The carriage dispute between Fox and Dish Network being carried out on your TV grid is likely to affect the gridiron (and the baseball diamond) too. Fox’s regional sports channels disappeared from Dish Network’s lineup at midnight Sept. 30 when a new contract between the two parties could not be agreed upon.
Fox says that Dish customers “risk missing the final three Texas Rangers games this weekend, Saturday’s Kansas-Baylor game and other Big 12 football games as well as the start of the Dallas Mavericks, San Antonio Spurs and Dallas Stars seasons later this month and in November.”
“Fox has been trying for months to reach a fair agreement, but Dish refuses to play ball,” FOX Sports Southwest spokesman Ramon Alvarez said via press release. “Our programming is among the most valuable Dish offers, and we’re simply looking for a fair deal.”
Dish Network responded that Fox was demanding an “unprecedented rate increase of more than 50 percent,” according to this story from the New York Times.
As is customary in these increasingly common disputes, each side has a website blaming the other. Fox lists viewing alternatives for Dish customers here and Dish Network asks you to call the President of Fox Sports Networks (and gives you his phone number) here.

I just have to tell you how horrible this is!! There is no reason to require money for everything we want to participate in. Some people can not afford cable tv much less paying extra to watch sports! Sports is the great American passtime!! Why take that away from us too! Come on FOX!!
