Time Warner Cable outage reported in South Austin

Update: A Time Warner Cable spokesperson says “There was a power outage in South Austin that impacted our system for about 30 minutes. Reports are showing all impacted customers should be back up and running now.”

If you’re still having problems, please let us know.

We’re getting reports of Time Warner Cable outage in the Austin area. Screens in the newsroom froze mid-kick in a World Cup soccer match, but appear to be working now. @TWCableHelp, the Time Warner Cable help account on Twitter confirmed that customers in South Austin are experiencing service issues due to a damaged fiber line. A spokesman apologizes for the interruption in services and says that TWC has personnel in the field working to resolve the issue.

My cable went out at exactly 5pm today Sunday 7/18/2010. Was on the phone with Guatamala City, said they could do nothing now and the next avail appt is Thurs! At my request, they transfered me to someone local, was on hold for 20 minutes then the line went dead never talked to anyone and no one bother to call me back. I still do not have a signal and I do not use a "box". There are shows I want to see tonight and if I do not get a signal by 8pm...I am looking onto satellite TV. I have been with TW for over 30 years and talk about feeling like a door mat. Very disappointing.

This is the third time my cable has been out do to "area" problems.

...and yes they are slowly taking away channels but still charging you the same rate. Radar is gone, Oxygen is gone, and others.

Ive noticed that a couple channels are no longer working (Example: Lifetime, and TBS). Anyone else having this problem?
And I agree with Mr. Earl, Grande is MUCH better, I would have gladly used them if it was offered in my area. Time Warner is beyond disappointing.

We used to have Time-Warner cable but the outages/problems with their service seemed to have been frequent. Switched to Grande Communications ( a local company) for cable, internet & phone and have never had a problem with ‘em. And no, I don’t work for them or have any financial interests in that company. Just a good cable provider.

I'm in South Austin and my cable never went out but I think my power browned out. I guess it's to be expected when it gets hot.
