Jimmy Fallon to host Emmys
The New York Times and other media sources are reporting that jimmy Fallon, host of NBC’s “Late Night,” has been tapped to host the 2010 Emmy Awards (also on NBC).
My dislike of Fallon noted, I actually think this might be a good fit for his particular and narrow skill set: He’s got a lot of live TV experience (including the auto-tune bit he did at last year’s ceremony); it won’t require any real interviewing or listening skills; it will be okay if he cracks himself up, since that is kind of the status quo for these affairs; and the bar for humor at awards shows couldn’t be lower.
What do you think? Good choice? Bad? Neil Patrick Harris did a well-reviewed job last year — can Fallon match (or beat) it? Sound off in the comments.
The Awards will be broadcast live Sunday, Aug. 29; nominations will be announced on Thursday, July 8.
