‘News 8 Austin’ changes name
The New York Times reports that Time Warner Cable is rebranding its local news stations, including Austin’s News 8.
The channel will now be called “Your News Now.”
“Even though we had built a brand with our existing stations, we decided we could be more efficient,” the article quotes Steve Paulus, who oversees Time Warner Cable’s local news division, as saying.
The story says that many of TWC’s New York news channels have quietly rebranded in the past year to facilitate efficiences in marketing, graphics and news sharing. Austin seems to be the first market outside of New York to undergo the name change (the 24-hour cable channel began broadcasting in 1999).
We expect to speak to a News 8 spokesperson soon regarding how the change will affect the station and its website. We’ll keep you posted.

I have AT&T Uverse, and like it. While I will never use AT&T for wireless services (crappy dropped calls all the time!), Uverse is a good service.

I do not like News 8 Austin. Everything is recorded and looped for hours and hours. The weather forecast is never new. Go over to news 8 austin right now and wait for a weather forecast. Look at the radar loop... or if you get lucky you will see the "future radar". Note the times on those radar loops. I love when the "future" radar starts at 4pm yet it is already 8pm that same evening. Good grief. Maybe we should rename the channel: Your News Four Hours Ago

you miss Digital VOIP with TWC? I sure don't miss paying $25/MONTH when I only have to pay $20/YEAR using my MagicJack. Now who's REALLY unhappy?

We have Direct TV now, I REALLY miss TWC. The whole package with TV, phone and internet works WAY better thru them and we're really not saving any money, but, of course, we're LOCKED in now. I'm NOT happy. Meanwhile, News 8 is one of the many things about TWC we miss (that and video on demand).

Ridiculous waste of time and money. I resent what I pay Time Warner, if this is how they spend it.
