ABC Family seeks Austin teen actors

ABC Family is coming to Austin, seeking actors for a new summer series called “Huge.” The scripted series (this is not a reality show) “follows the lives of six teens and the staff at a weight-loss camp, as they look beneath the surface to discover their true selves and the truth about each other,” the casting notice reads.

Auditions are slated for March 1 and 2 from 2-8 p.m. at Austin Creative Alliance, 701 Tillery St., Suite 8A in Austin.

Casting directors are looking for talented, plus-size individuals to play 15-16-year-olds. Actors may be older, but must be believable as mid-teens. Casting is open to actors and non-actor/newcomers. For those who cannot attend, videos can be submitted online at www.abcfamily.com.

The series is based on author Sasha Paley’s book of the same name and sports an impressive roster of production talent including Winnie Holzman (“My So-Called Life”) and Robin Schiff (“10 Things I Hate About You”). Auditions are also being held in Atlanta, New York, Chicago and Seattle.
