‘As the World Turns’ canceled

“As the World Turns,” the long-running CBS soap opera, will air its last episode next September.

The announcement comes just three months after the end of another CBS soap, “Guiding Light.”

Producers say they’re looking for a way to keep the show, which has been airing for 54 years, going on a new outlet.

After “As the World Turns” ends, CBS will have two soaps left: “The Bold and the Beautiful” and “The Young and the Restless.”

As a third generation viewer of As The World Turns, I am extremely disappointed that CBS has decided to cancel this show and leave millions of disgruntled fans looking to other networks for entertainment. Since it appears that ratings are on the decline, perhaps rather than cancel ATWT, consider better writers and or reduce viewing time from 60 to 30 minutes until ratings improve. Not only would CBS keep viewers happy and content, but all the fine, loyal actors who portray Oakdale's inhabitants would not lose their livelihood. I look forward to following the escapades of this soap and if CBS cannot rescind their decision, then I hope another network picks up this great soap!

As the world turns is as American as they com romance and family has been the theme of the show for 50 years . Mothers and daughters have raised their children while taking a Lunch or nape time break to have some mom time watching As the world turns" sisters keep in touch over miles with lite conversation keeping each other updated on the story. .it's sad that agame show or "r eality" take some enjoyable down time away from us all!

THANK YOU!! Now just cancel the rest of the soap operas that too many for too long have actually thought were like "real life". Biggest waste of TV airtime outside of Maury and that ex-mayor from Ohio and their talk shows.
