Local dog loses moment in the sun on “America’s Funniest Home Videos”

Chance and Yoko Nelson threw a party for themselves last Sunday to watch themselves and their dog win $100,000 on “America’s Funniest Home Videos.”

The taping, with host Tom Bergeron, actually happened in Los Angeles in mid-February. The show was scheduled and listed in various viewers’ guides for Mar. 1.

With friends, food and fun in place, the Nelsons turned to the ABC show at 6 p.m. on KVUE.

But instead of seeing the winning clip of their beloved Chihuahua Chester, who walks on his front paws and urinates at the same time, they saw an infomercial called “Hidden Millionaires’ Secrets.”

We’re not making this up about Chester. Check the YouTube video below.

“We already knew we had won,” said Chance, who works for Extra Space Storage in Austin. “So we had this big party. But the show was preempted, so we lost our moment in the sun.”

A source in KVUE’s programming department confirms that the infomercial was a last-minute schedule change, and they probably wouldn’t have done it if they had been aware that Austin’s own Chester was going to be featured as the big prize winner.

For the record, Chester thought up the hand-walking-urinating trick on his own. Chance Nelson swears neither he nor his wife taught him how to do it.

Amazing precision and determination on the part of the pup. A conceptual artist like Sol Lewitt would be impressed. Now, let's see how many Aggies try to replicate the stunt!

My mother works with this guy who's dog does this. It really is funny to see. And he really has not been trained. I did not believe it till I saw it myself. Why did they show so show on how to get rich anyways? did anyone even watch it? Sorry Chance that really sucks they did that.

Wow, "Funniest Videos'" numbers must be pretty bad if KVUE is pre-empting it for an infomercial -- in prime time, no less!

Now you think that is funny? I think it is disgusting and shows how far our culture has fallen. Bring back Lucy and Andy any day. Now they are funny

A dog from Austin that pees. Who could've ever imagined. Shame on KVUE for not recognizing an important story when they see it.

That's KVUE for you, and why I don't watch them!

Dang I thought he'd never quit!!! It must not be too uncommon, growing up we had a neighbor that had a terrier kind of dog that did the same thing. It used to crack us too!!

This is all Obama's fault. If he had not changed the date on the converter switchover, then local stations might not have had to resort to infomercials depriving us of the peeing dog. No wonder the guy is getting gray hairs being in the White House. It's all on you Obama...cough cough! Anyone know what time King of the Hill starts?

Well, honestly peeing and walking on his paws, just doesn't sound right, or healthy for the dog. Owner may think its funny, but its alot of stress on the kidneys.
But, doesn't surprise me about KVUE. You go to their site look at one article, try to look at another---and they want you to "tell us more about you". They want your email adress and data. Then you gets tons of spam.

I saw it? Very recently too. I thought it was some old clip on a re-run. Glad to hear you guys are locals. Pretty hilarious.

Thank you, KVUE! Seriously, we don't need to see this kind of nonsense on TV - even if it comes from one of our neighbors!

I tuned into KVUE the other day to watch America’s Funniest Home Videos and I too was surprised when that infomercial came on. Our Sunday evening routine is to watch the funniest videos show and then the home makeover show. I changed the channel when that infomercial came on and watched some home improvement show instead on HGTV.

I didn’t know an Austinite was going to be on the video show so now I am really disappointed. KVUE sure screwed up this time!

I actually saw the episode. It either played the 15th of February, or it played early before the Barbara Walter's Oscar Special on the 22nd. I specifically remember seeing the show because I was excited to hear the winners were from Austin.

I'm suprised a dog that small could hold that much liquid. He must have lost have his body weight right there.
