KXAN’s Chris Willis back on the air soon
Next week, KXAN’s morning news team will be back together — at long last.
At various times over the past couple of months, anchors Chris Willis and Sally Hernandez have been (a) on medical leave or (b) vacation. Both are fine now and plan to reunite just in time for the March sweeps.
Readers/viewers have been concerned, especially because Willis has been missing for so long. Good reason: He recently had the second of two hip replacements. Gulp. We feel for him.
“I’ve been trying to respond to the viewer e-mails through my KXAN account, but because I’m recovering at home and out of the office, it’s been kinda tough,” Willis wrote today. “I had my second hip replacement surgery on the 28th of January. My first one was a year earlier. Years of sports and degenerative arthritis finally caught-up with me.
“I’m planning on returning to work (on the air) next Tuesday. Poor Sally has had to carry the load by herself. And David Scott has been great this week, filling in for Sally while she was on vacation. Feel free to update your readers. I’m chomping at the bit to get back at it. Believe me … I’ve got two boys, ages 3 and 14 months, so I need to get back to work so I can get some rest!”

ha ha ha will you realy must be a joke, with out even questioning it KXAN morning news team is the best in austin!! Sally and chris are teh best news team on air. Sally seems to be a good reader to me ha ha ha i like to see u try doing her job but i doubt u have the right education to even qualify for a job like her's, and chris proboly looks better than u too!!

I am thrilled that the best team will be soon be reunited! Oh...Will...go somewhere far away to learn manners and do not come back until you have respect for others and yourself. My guess you are a teen or younger.

Will, have some more coffee or go back to bed. What a grouch. I for one happen to like this crew because you can tell they like each other and it's much better to start the morning with people who joke around. I like the KVUE morning crew too except for the new weather woman and Tom Harris who really really needs to learn hoooow tooooooo speeeeak better. It's totally annoying to listen to him.

They need to get rid of the whole crew. The only one who knows how to read is Ellen, but she looks so young that you know she lacks experience. Shawn just babbles about stupid things, Chris's hair is so thin you can tell without hair dye he would be bald. And last but not least, Sally, learn how to read the news and then get back to me.
