Hey formerlove, I won't attack you with good comeback cause trust me you sound pretty pscho and I could go to town with that alone. I'm hardly an idiot and have absolutely nothing to be jealous of Michelle for. Are you kidding me??? I, as you do, have the right to state my opinion about her. The difference with you and I is that I worked with her and knew enough about her to state my opinion. You don't know me and anything about my life and trust me you're dead wrong about everything. Why would you hire someone who was not renewed at KXAN, who was charged with a DWI, who felt the camera and the storylines needed to be hers, and who couldn't get along with co-workers on screen (I watched this obvious/unprofessional behavior on many occasions? I used to like her - her being back in the Austin market is terrible. Poor Fred - watch your back baby!

Since she got to town, there's always just been this "something" about Michelle that doesn't quite pass the smell test. But that would apply to a lot of folks, and we all know some who fit that bill. If I were in a job situation with her, I'd watch her closely. And not for the eye candy factor. "Trust your instincts, Luke."

Why such a vehement group of Austinites so against a woman who is doing nothing more than pursuing her career? You wake up in the morning, take care of your family, go to work, enjoy the fruits of your labor - so let the woman do her own thing. I've read lesser venomous things said about Governors and Presidents who have stained their offices. Michelle gives back a lot to her community. When's the last time you did something that benefited someone less fortunate?

For the comment by "Bob the Ego Builder for Michelle"...nobody puts baby in the corner, it's not like she landed the job of the century dude. It's a morning show for CBS! It's a big step downward. KEYE probably figure they can take advantage of the media circus that follows Michelle mainly due to her reckless decision to drink and drive, as well as make her personnel matters a public display as a seemingly desperate move to manipulate KXAN. Forget about good work ethic and sound journalism standards at KEYE..it's all about the ratings for them. They will drop her like a hot potato after they learn that their "high risk" decision to hire her fails. It's so predictable. I wish I had the time to watch it all unfold, but I honestly have better things to do. Goodbye to this and other little blogs about Michelle Valles from the Valley.

Drama Queen comes from the combined behaviors she consistently exhibits. While part of the picture the label doesn't just come from the DWI.
The crown was bestowed by her initiating the contact with Diane Holloway to tell "her story" of how she walked off her job to protest being offered less than what she thought she was worth, expressing her need to be appreciated, stating she was no longer working there but would consider going back if she got what she wanted. All the while KXAN remained no comment until forced to respond due to all of the DRAMA she was creating in the paper and around town. Fishing for public support to overturn or manipulate a business decision concerning wages isn't drama to you?
The night she was arrested for DWI there were other folks stopped in the same area. It was random and based on traffic violations of which she made a few. When picking up suspected drunks downtown is an agenda that has been pushed long before she got caught, insisting it was a plot to take her down sounds like more drama.
Who watches the news to feel good? It is reporting information that is usually negative. If you are looking for "life" with negative story lines, watch the soaps. Or yes, watch mornings at KEYE!

Austin, hmm I thought of Austin as a city with a liberal philosophy, I guess when it comes to Michelle you not. She made a mistake so get over it and let the poor woman do her job.

I don't understand why she's being labeled a drama queen. Just because she made the news regarding her DUI doesn't mean she's the drama queen. It means the news just likes to sensationalize certain stories if it brings in more viewers. The news can distort everyone and everything at any given time in any way they choose. So many of you are so quick to judge, so quick to throw a stone and yet I bet many of you have driven under the influence because you felt you were okay to drive. You just didn't get caught. Someone saw her at an event, kept an eye on her, waiting to call her out and so they did and that's how it went down. I like her, I think she will bring some life to the morning news with Fred Cantu. She is the reason I'm returning to Keye in the mornings. Oh, and about her on air mistakes-we make them every day when we engage in conversations with other folk. We just don't have a camera in our face. I'm glad she's from my hometown! I love that she can bring those who don't care for her as a newscaster to waste their time coming to this website and writing about her. I guess she can inspire. Hasta la vista!

Gee, KEYE must not be attracting potential candidates to their station for their anchor spots. Is Michelle Valles the best they can do???? PLEEEZ!!! She's a mess and will turn the station into a bigger mess. Guess they will have to learn the hard way. Good thing we don't have to see or hear her in the El Paso/Las Cruces area!

Wow...get over it!! Let's be happy for her. How miserable your lives must be if all you can do is put her down. She is amazing. The nicest and most confident woman I have ever worked with at KXAN. She cared about her co-workers and it was the crappy management there that should be examined.

In a city as accepting as Austin, I was aghast to read the racist comments by Will on Nueces, JLC, and louie. I am not defending any of Valles' past actions by any means, but: 1.) Just because a latina has had some success does not mean that they are "taking over". Open your eyes, because they are still a minority. How many other minority newscasters are there in Austin? 2.) You cannot assume that anyone hispanic speaks spanish. and 3.) Since when does being hispanic equal being ghetto?? Frankly, I am glad that KEYE picked up Valles because they could use more diversity.

One of my favorite Michelle bloopers happened right after she started at KXAN. After a crazy Jim Swift story she meant to say "Jim's getting exotic today." But it came out: "Jim's getting EROTIC today." Too funny!

Have sympathy for Fred Cantu and the folks at KEYE! Doubt KXAN is feeling a profound loss, probably having a good laugh. Chris& Sally, KXAN, won top morning ratings because they do an excellent job at reporting the news not in BEING the news!

DWI charges power attorney Joe Turner gets reduced.. dating father figure Ray Benson..walking off KXAN job diva style.. and now desperate to stay in Austin accepts KEYE job..

Desperation? Yikes! Sounds like DRAMA! Keeping the channel on KXAN.

KXAN has made one more strategic error in not recognizing your worth. Keep up the good work. Please be a strong advocate for safety and survival by letting drivers know - as the busy Holiday traffic clogs our streets - how they take the lives of others into their own hands when they place those hands on the steering wheel, cell phone and the glass.

I thought KEYE was having money troubles and that was why they fired Elizabeth Danheim and a bunch of other folks not long ago. What changed? Did Valles come really cheap? Either way, being on the air from 5-7 a.m. each day seems like a step down from being a prime time anchor.

That picture sure looks a lot like her mug shot when she was arrested. Shock to her body clock is putting it mildly. However, she will still have plenty of time to make her rounds in the afternoon and most of the night. Isn't this interesting. I thought KEYE laid off all those reporters because these were tough economic times and they had to cut costs. Now they resurrect this stammering, bumbling piece of eye candy for God knows how much salary, after she pouts and walks from her last gig because they low-balled her.

But let's look on the bright side: now a whole new audience in a whole new day part can watch her flub her lines.
