Longhorn football great Bud McFadin dies
Lewis “Bud” McFadin, a two-time All-American lineman at Texas and a member of the College Football Hall of Fame, died Monday in Victoria.
McFadin played offensive guard and defensive tackle at Texas from 1948 to 1950 and was MVP of the 1951 Cotton Bowl. He was a first-round pick of the Los Angeles Rams and played 11 seasons in the NFL, including stints with the Denver Broncos and Houston Oilers. He was an NFL Pro Bowl selection five times.
After his playing days, McFadin was a rancher in the Del Rio area of southwestern Texas before moving to Victoria in 1980 and working with Air Equipment Rental.
He is survived by his wife, Patsy, two daughters, two sons, 12 grandchildren, two great-grandchildren and a brother. Visitation will be at 5 p.m. today at Rosewood Funeral Chapel in Victoria. The funeral will be at 4 p.m. Thursday at Rocky Creek Baptist Church. He will be buried in Colorado City.
