Big 12 softball pitcher of the week? Who else but Cat.

Cat Osterman has been named the Big 12 softball pitcher of the week — for the 17th time in her four-year career at Texas.

The former Olympian has started the season 3-0 — all of them shutouts and two of them no-hitters. She’s struck out 41 in 19 innings.

What a shame that baseball and particularly softball will not be Olympic sports in 2008. It is a shame that tremendous talents like Cat Osterman have so few opportunities to pursue their sport above the collegiate level. But thankfully we are able to watch the riveting sports of curling during the winter Olympics and the trampoline of all things in the summer games.

Who decides these things and where can I find them?

It is a shame the olympic committee decided to exclude softball. Do you suppose it may be because they are afraid Cat will show them up again?
