Just getting warmed up…
Summer is one-third over.
You might have noticed by now that summer is my favorite season: lots of sun, not as much rain (this year, apparently, none), Willie’s Picnic, my birthday (no gifts, please, I’m a professional) … I guess it all grows out of the fact that I’m still hoping for a summer vacation.
I don’t have the distraction that I had last year (buying a house), but it seems like I’m already behind on my summer fun. Only one tubing trip. Only one concert. Very few leisurely afternoons working in the yard. Definitely not as many evenings drinking beer in beer gardens as I had hoped.
Still, the news hasn’t been all bad. Shannon and I have rediscovered Barton Springs. I spent a good hour this morning discovering the Barton Creek Greenbelt and how it hates my mountain bike.
Only three-and-a-half years into my latest stay in Austin, and I’m beginning to figure out just what the outdoor life offers around here.
Look out July, here I come.
