SXSW nabs Kimberly Peirce’s Austin-shot war flick
Recall a couple of summers ago when Ryan Phillippe was in town shooting a somewhat vague Iraq war picture?
That film is “Stop Loss,” and according to the really obnoxious personal site of one of its stars, it will play SXSW in March. (SXSW has neither denied nor confirmed.)
The film’s IMDB entry describes the plot: “Back home in Texas after fighting in Iraq, a soldier refuses to return to battle despite the government mandate requiring him to do so.”
Directed by Kimberly Peirce (“Boys Don’t Cry”), “Stop Loss” was shot in, among other places, Austin, Lockhart and San Antonio in 2006.

Some may say the same about this site and every other blog that has limited real estate and a lot of information to convey. If things are not front and center, my readers will not hunt for it.
If you have any recommendations on how to improve it, I’ll take that. From one blogger to another, I just feel that criticism should be more constructive.
FYI, I’m a Mrs. and I’m running an official site for a Hollywood actor. My 1000’s of readers a day may be a little different than the audience you currently cater to and they are used to sites being busier than news sites. They enjoy the fact that they can get exclusive information about the actor and his projects and they keep coming back because of it.
Again, I’m open to advice, if you have any suggestions.

I agree with Chris on this one. That site is a beating to deal with. It is nice to see you are so devoted to this actor, mr. web master, but you may want to chill with the design a bit.

Bells and whistles or not, you can get a lot of quality information on the site, including the basis for your above article. Sites like TechCrunch.com use the same informational pop-ups. Do you have issues with that too?

I’m afraid it really was. There are more bells and self-promoting whistles on the site than at a casino. It’s a hazardous place to run your cursor, unless you like screaming, beaming pop-outs. Goggles required.
