More on the Matt-Penelope split

— The new Us Weekly breaks our heart with the obligatory picture of Penelope Cruz and Matthew McConaughey ripped down the middle now that they’ve split.

Quoting a McConaughey “pal,” the story says McConaughey may have wanted someone who could spend more time traveling with him, but the pal also goes on to say “his love of travel and adventure could be what drove them apart.” Whatever the case, we remain bereft.

— The Austin Film Society is bringing in Caveh Zahedi for the opening of his film “I Am a Sex Addict” on June 23 at the Dobie. Zahedi will do Q&A’s after the 7 p.m. screenings of the film on the 23rd and 24th.

— The plans aren’t finalized yet, so don’t go bothering anybody, but AFS is also set to put on the Austin premiere of Richard Linklater’s “A Scanner Darkly” on June 28 at the Paramount. We’ll keep you posted on details.

— You can bid on props from “A Prairie Home Companion,” including the Army satchel belonging to Lindsay Lohan’s character. Right now, it’s only $27, and just think how great it would be if you found a note in the satchel detailing Lindsay’s plans to deal with her legion of enemies.

Rodriguez, Avellan together at MTV awards

The most intriguing part of the MTV Movie Awards, which aired last night but were handed out last weekend, came early. There on the blue carpet were “Sin City” director Robert Rodriguez and producer Elizabeth Avellan, his estranged wife. The two separated in April.
