Another one bites the dust

Chris Sligh’s been canned.

Wow, we didn’t see that coming. Not yet, at least.

Chris started the season strong. In fact, at one point, it looked like he was the guy to beat. But where the other finalists — well, most of them — got better with each passing week, Chris seemed to stagnate.

Was he really the worst of the final 10? No way. Several others come to mind. Sanjaya Malakar, of course, tops the list.

The other Chris, Chris Richardson, must be breathing a huge sigh of relief. He was in the bottom two last week and turned in a stinker of a performance Tuesday night. Voters, however, apparently liked what they saw — and heard.

Shudder.

Anyway, the other cellar-dwellers were Phil Stacey and San Antonio’s own Haley Scarnato, in case you’re wondering. And we know you were.

Sanjaya’s safe for another week, courtesy of Howard Stern and VoteForTheWorst.com. No real shock there.

Now excuse us while we curl up into a ball and sob softly in a corner …

I voted for Sanjaya for the full 2 hours because Howard Stern told me to.

Give me Sanjaya over chubby anyday! Honestly, do you really want to watch that belly tromping around a stage all night? Ugh.

Sanjaya has got to know about this website that is encouraging people to vote for him and to keep him on there this long…if I were him, I would be totally embarrassed and withdraw from the show on my own. He’s a good singer, no doubt…but no where close to being a great singer to actually compete with the rest of the top 12. I think it’s pitiful for people to actually do this to him, to the other finalists and to the show…but hey…if you feel like you are accomplishing something…have at it. If you really don’t believe in this show and think it’s rigged…change the channel and don’t watch it! For God sake…you are sending people home that have a REAL chance. GO HOME SANJAYA!

Here you go again …

It never fails to amaze me how The Statesman and the rest of the media keep giving Howard Stern credit for keeping Sanjaya around. Stern’s entire listenership is a drop in the bucket of the 30-million plus votes “Idol” gets each week. And the percentage of those Stern listeners who would actually pick up the phone and make a call for him? TINY.

How can you keep crediting him for Malakar’s continued success with no facts to back it up?

I am no Sanjaya fan, but the meager number of Stern calls is not what is keeping him around. He was beating better singers long before Stern jumped on the bandwagon.

Please back up your facts or stop asserting that Stern listeners have anything to do with this. You’re embarrassing yourself.
