Candidates in their pajamas

Early nominee for most creative use of presidential campaign for commercial purposes:

A Holiday Inn Express website that claims to calculate how much money candidates could have saved by staying at Holiday Inn Express motels. The site features a drawing of the candidates in their pajamas, an image you may or may not want in your head. It’s all very tasteful and shows Mitt Romney clutching a teddy bear, Mike Huckabee holding a pillow and Rudy Giuliani scratching his head and holding a glass of something.

And as in real life, Hillary Rodham Clinton - the campaign’s only female candidate - is not wearing anything much different than her male counterparts.

The bottom lines on how much the remaining major contenders could have saved in 2007: Clinton, 27 percent. Barack Obama, 44 percent. Mike Huckabee, 44 percent. John McCain, 38 percent. Mitt Romney, 40 percent.

The whole effort includes this fabulous disclaimer:

“We gotta admit, we’re not pollsters, political scientists or even economists. Heck, we’re not even very good at math.”

Compassionate conservative

The Super Bowl report from the White House:

Spokeswoman Dana Perino said President Bush watched the entire game.

“He said he was happy for the winners and sad for the losers,” says Ms. Perino.

Insert Patriot Act joke here. Here are the key elements to work with: Patriots. Spying.
